Overview of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) 

• Children 3-12 years of age are placed in three atria by age and spiritual development
• CGS Sessions are held weekly, at Prince of Peace Parish, in our Education Wing
• Catechetical materials intentionally mirror the liturgical seasons of the church 
• All materials comply with the Catechesis of the Catholic Church
• All materials are inspired by Montessori principles and follow a three-year cycle
• The atrium is a prayerful space where children encounter Jesus through Scripture, liturgy (Mass), sacraments, and contemplative prayer
• Catechists are certified by the National Association of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

CGS Sessions for 2024-2025

Monday

10:00 am-Noon     Level 1 , Level 2, Level 3

4:30-6:00 pm        Level 1, Level 2, Level 3

Wednesday

6:00-7:30 pm         Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 

Sunday

8:45am – 10:15am Level 2, Level 3

 

CGS Atria Levels and Size-Limits

Level One (3-6 years old) / 8 children per session

Level Two (6-9 years old) / 12 children per session

Level Three (9-12 years old) / 15 children per session

All CGS sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note, CGS volunteers will receive preferential placement of their own children. Once a session is full, children will be placed on a waiting list. 

• Registration Information and Documents

Parents must complete three forms: registration, media release, and medical treatment release. Return all three forms, along with payment, to the parish office. This will help to secure the placement of your child(ren). Tuition scholarships are available.
